Deepening the crisis in the civil war-torn Sudan, the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Saturday announced the formation of a rival citizen-led government, increasing the possibility of permanent division in the country.
At a press conference in Nyala’s RSF-controlled city in South Darfur, the paramilitary announced the 15-member of the members of the Membranean Principal with Commander Mohammad Hamdan Daglo, known as Hemedti, as its Chairman.
The head of SPLM-N, rebel leader Abhylaziz al-Hilu, is named Vice President.
Mohammad Hassan al-Taisi, a civilian politician, was appointed Prime Minister. Hey 2019 to 2021 military coup, a form member of Sudan’s transitional sovereign council.
The new regional governor, including one for Darfur, is therefore announced. The region now has rival governors from each side.
Rebel is looking to establish secular ‘New Sudan’
RSF stopped the possibility of Sudan’s 27 -month -old civil war as it directly challenges the internationally recognized army -led government, formed under the former United Nations officer Kamil Idris in May, but incomplete with cabinet posts.
The RSF stated that an agreement between paramilitary, rebel and civil groups in February paved the way for the new government to set up a secular “New Sudan”.
International validity wants the faction to be allowed to secure advanced weapons imports.
The Sudani Army, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Boron, has not formally responded, but had earlier made any effort to create a parallel administration.
United Nations officials warned that the formation of government risk parallel to the RSF further fragmented Sudan and reduced diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
How did the struggle start in Sudan?
The struggle began in April 2023 as a Shakti conflict between Burhan and Dagalo, once a colleague who had excluded the prolonged ruler Omar al-Bashir in the 2021 coup in 2019 before turning each other on each other, which delayed the infection of Sudan in a democracy.
The country is now effective partitions with the army controlling the north, east and center, recently withdrawn the capital Khartum, while RSF has most parts of Darfur and Cordophen, where the fight has increased.
Meanwhile, Burhan is under American restrictions for the use of chemical weapons against RSF in 2024.
Since the war has started up to 13 million, according to the United Nations data, bees are on the verge of performance and are large parts of the population. About 150,000 people are estimated to be baked.
