Tribute after Laura Dahlmier’s death in Pakistan
The Germany and the International Sports Community reacted to the news that Laura Dahlmeer has died in a climber accident.
The German Bythlite, who won a two -time Olympic gold medal two -time Olympic gold medal in a rockslide high in the mountains of Northern Pakistan, was confirmed the deceased on Wednesday.
On Monday, 31 -year -old, climbing on a 6.069 meter high Laila peak, fell from the rocks at a height of about 5.700 meters (18.700 ft).
German President Frank-Walter Steinmier expressed his condolences to Dahlmier’s parents, wrote that “what he is about the extraordinary game woman.”
He said, “What ambassador for our country in the Laura Dahlmier world, a role model for peaceful, cheerful and fair co -existence on borders,” he said.
Kirsti Coantry, chairman of the International Olympic Committee, described the news as “deeply shocking for all of us in the Olympic movement”.
Covantry said, “Laura made history at the Pyongachang 2018 Winter Olympics, which is the first female biathlite to pursue sprint and gold at the SAMS Games Edition. She will be remembered forever. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.” Covantry said.
The International Bathlon Union (IBU) said, “During its career and after its retirement, inspired countless lives worldwide to push Laura’s drive beyond the border and adopt challenges.”
The German Ski Federation DSV stated that there were “shocked and deeply sad” to know about Dahlmier’s death. “In Laura, the German Ski Federation has not only lost to the external athlete, but is a very special person. His legacy wants to reach beyond the game. We will honest his memory,” DSV said.
Magdelena Neur, who won two Olympic gold and 12 world titles in Bethlon, posted a picture of himself and Dahlmier with a heart emoji on Instagram.
