What happened in Trump’s tariff order?
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump expressed concern over India’s current trade policies in a press conference and said that India would be imposed 25% tariffs. At the same time, he also added that a strict step can be taken soon on India’s strategic relations with Russia. But when the executive order with his signature came to light, there was a 25% fee on some Indian goods coming to America only. Interestingly, petroleum products like diesel, refined fuel, crude oil, LNG (LNG), electricity and coal were placed in the list of discounts. Not only this, medicines, electronics and smartphones are also in this list.
Still ongoing talk in Indo-US
Meanwhile, in the US and India, there is going to be a conversation related to the trade deal once again. Ricky Gill is a senior director of South and Central Asia Affairs at the National Security Counsel Office of America (NSC). He has been invited by India’s National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) for a meeting to be held in Delhi on 5 and 6 August. This meeting will be focused on the future of India-Midal East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). Officials said that the journey was planned several weeks ago and it has no relation with the existing trade issues between the two countries.
