German cultural figures asks Israel to stop arms exports
More 160 German artists and media figures are now among 367 signators, to open a letter addressed to Chancellor Frederick Merz, who criticizes Israel’s works in Gaza and asks the Central Eastern country to end German weapons exports.
The campaign group Awaz said the new signators include composer Nina Chuba, director Fatih Akin and actor Sandra Hul.
“We too, in the strongest possible words, respect the terrible crimes committed by Hamas. But no crime is collectively correct.

New European Union-American Tariff deal negatively seen by most German firms
German businesses widely watched the new tariff agreement between the US and the European Union with concern, with the majority of predisposition, according to a survey by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), according to the results released on Wednesday.
More than half of the 3,355 companies in the survey (58%) said the deal is expected to increase their burden. Just 5% saw the deal as a positive impact.
The study showed that in total 74% of companies that maintain direct trade relations with the US are negative results from the deal.
The study indicated that more of the firms directly involved in the US markets plan to reduce the trans-elementic trade, while 31% have modified the way of handling the cost of customs, by leasing some growth for American customers, among other things.
“This agreement may be politically necessary, but for many companies in Germany, it is still a bitter bullet,” said DIHK management.
Director Helena Melnikov. “It brings new burden rather than relief: high tattif, more bureaucracy and low competition.”
As part of the long -standing trade dispute by European Commission Chairman Ursula von deer leane and US President Donald Trump, most exports of the European Union in the US will be subject to 15% tapic by August 7.

Wwii bomb finds large -scale dressed withdrawn
Officials of Eastern City Dresseden say that some 17,000 people will be forced to leave their homes on Wednesday to provide safe permission of bomb leaf from another world.
The British 250 kg (500 pounds) bombs were found amidst work on Tuesday to demolish the remains of the Karola Bridge, some parts of which fell into the Elbe River last September.
The bomb is to be defined at the location where it was found.
The vacant area includes several hotels, as well as the city’s famous Fraunkirche, or Church of Lady, which is visited by thousands of people around the world every year.
The demolition work on the Carola Bridge already exposed a WWII bomb in January, indicating withdrawal of 10,000 people.
Dresseden was a target of four large -scale friendly bombing raids between 13 and 15 February 1945, during which 25,000 people were killed and a lot was destroyed in the city center.
