Prosecutors in South Korea broke an arrest warrant against former first woman Kim Kane, a day after, a day after bribery, stock manipulation and suspicion of her involvement in political impact-money.
Special prosecutor Oh Jung-Hee said in a press briefing, “We requested for Kim for arrest warrant at 1:21 pm (0421 GMT).”
This development is in custody as former Orthodox President Yun Suk Yeol to declare martial law in December.
If the court provides an arrest warrant, it would be the first time in South Korean history that both a form president and the first woman were arrested.
Three separate special prosecutors were released against Yun, which was launched under the new government of Left-Shukavad President Lee J. Mayung. The investigation to target his wife is one of the three.
Why is Kim Kane being prepared?
The allegations against Kim include violations of capital market and financial investment laws, as well as violation of political money laws, said Oh.
In 2022, Kim was questioned by investigators for about seven hours on various allegations, including the claim of influencing the nomination of the Conservative Party candidate for the Parliamentary by -election.
