Police said on Sunday that eight people were killed and two others were injured in a shooting outside a nightclub in South -West Ecuador.
Police Colonel Xavier Chango told a press conference that seven people died on the spot, and died in another hospital.
The attack took place in Santa Lucia, which took place in a city with a population of 38,000 in Guayas, which was asked by one of the four provinces under two months in the beginning of this week by President Daniel Noboa to counter the gang violence.
What else do we know about shooting?
Chango explained that the gunmen reached two pickup trucks and set fire to the crowd out of the Napolles Night Club at 1:15 in the local time period (0615 GMT).
After the attack, they ran to the “unknown route”, Chango said. Police found 800 cartridges cases at the scene.
Among the dead, Santa Lucia’s mayor’s brother Nichclub was the owner of George Urkiso.
The police have not determined a figure for shooting.
“We are open to all hypotheses; we can’t rule in any way yet,” Chango said.
Ecuador closed the first half of 2025 with 4.619 housewives – an increase of 47% compared to the same period last year.
