Donald Trump made Washington DC a cantonment, national guard occupied the capital
The US capital Washington DC has been converted into a cantonment by Donald Trump. After the deployment of National Guards, people are now angry. On Wednesday, people took to the streets in the 14th Street Northwest, a busy area of the city. People came on the streets after the announcement of President Donald Trump, in which he said that his government will now take possession of the police of the city and increase the deployment of national guards.

Trump says that the crime situation in the country’s capital is like ‘Emergency’. At the same time, local leaders pointed to the data and said that at present the cases of crime are at a 30 -year low. The protesting people are angry with the increase in the number of police. When the police put a vehicle checkpoint on the 14th Street, people started shouting slogans. ‘Fascist, go home!’ Like slogans echoed.

Some protesters appealed to the drivers not to go towards the checkpoint. The mayor of the city, who is a Democrat, has described this step as ‘dictatorship’, but later he also called it a step to ‘increase security’. On the other hand, Trump claims that all this is to protect the city from ‘criminals and thugs’.

43 people arrested

On Tuesday night, 1,450 local and Federal officials together arrested 43 people. Most of them were traffic violations or small cases. DC Council member Christina Henderson described it as ‘simple Saturday night’ and called Trump’s move as ‘drama’.

On Wednesday, Homeland Security, Drug Information Administration (DEA) and FBI agents appeared in different areas of the city. National Guard personnel are also ready and their deployment is going to increase further from Thursday.

Trump can control Washington DC

Unlike other states and cities of America, Trump can take the Washington Police under his control for 30 days. If he wants control over Washington for a long time, then the approval of the Congress will be required for this. Trump’s plan is not limited to policing.

He has also announced to remove the camp of homeless people. The US Park Police has removed dozens of tents since March and is preparing to remove two more camps this week. The homeless people are being given the option of going to the shelter or drug addiction, but the fine or the sword of the jail is hanging on those who refuse.
