The House Foreign Affairs Committee of Democrats has strongly criticized Trump’s decision. He says that it is not possible to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin from his actions in Ukraine by imposing tariffs on India. Trump has increased tariffs from 25% to 50% due to the purchase of Russian oil from India. India has called it ‘unfair’.
Democrats are raging with this decision of Trump. They consider it a wrong strategy failed to address the roots of conflict in Ukraine. The severity of controversy increases further than the fact that India is considered an important partner in America’s broad geopolitical strategy. In such a situation, tariffs become a risky bet that can damage bilateral relations.
