India returning to Shubhanshu. Shubhanshu has been a part of scientific experiments and research missions at the International Space Station (ISS) for the last one year. He participated in many important experiments from biomedical research to technology testing in microgravity there. His mission was considered an achievement not only for India but for the whole of humanity.
There was an atmosphere of celebration in India
There was an atmosphere of celebration in India on the day when Shubhanshu sent a live message from ISS. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him and said that this achievement gives new height to the scientific dreams of India and will inspire generations to come. People across the country welcomed this historic moment by waving the tricolor and distributing sweets. There was a wave of pride and happiness in schools, colleges and villages.
As I sit on the plane to come back to India I have a mix of emotions running through my heart. I feel sad leaving a fantastic group of people behind who was my friends and family for the past one year during this mission.
