New Delhi. India on Saturday welcomed the summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska that the world wants to see the early end of the struggle in Ukraine. The two presidents held extensive talks on Friday, but could not reach any agreement for the ceasefire in Ukraine.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “India welcomes the summit meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. His leadership towards peace is very commendable.” It said, “The path ahead can be possible only through dialogue and diplomacy.”

No matter between Trump-Putin

Significantly, the conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin was inconclusive to end the war between Ukraine and Russia and could not agree on some important issues between the two leaders. After a meeting between the two leaders in Alaska, Putin claimed that ‘consensus’ regarding Ukraine had been formed and he warned Europe that he did not obstruct progress. After Putin’s claim, Trump said, “Nothing can be said surely until a compromise is reached.”

Trump said that he would call Ukrainian President Volodimir Jailonsky and European leaders to inform him about the conversation between Putin and him. After the meeting, Trump said, “Our meeting has been very fruitful, some issues have been agreed. Some are left. Some are not as important. One is the most important and there is a possibility that we will solve it too.” At the same time, Putin said that Trump understands that Russia has its own interests.
