The tricolor was hoisted for the first time on the space needle of CATUL, on the 79th Independence Day of India. Mayor Bruce Herael and other dignitaries participated. The contribution of the Indian-American community was appreciated.
A historic moment was seen in the city of CAATAL’s CAATAL.He appreciated the contribution of the Indian-American community, which has played an important role in shaping CATAL as a technical hub. On this occasion a community reception was held at Kerry Park, from where the panoramic view of the Seal and the tricolor hoisted on the space needle. A large number of people from the Indian-American community attended the ceremony. US MP (WA-9th District) Adam Smith, Washington Supreme Court Chief Justice Debra L. Stephens, CATIL Port Commissioner Sam Cho and CATIL Parks and Recreation Director AP Diaz adorned the ceremony.
In his address, Smith described the festival as a symbol of the diversity of the region and the strong relationship between the Indo-Pacific North-West. The program included national songs, cultural dance performances displaying Indian art forms and poetic recitation by famous artist and actor Piyush Mishra. King County, including CATATAL, Spochen, Tacoma and Belleview, declared August 15 as India Day. Several prestigious buildings including Lumen Stadium, T-Mobile Stadium, Westin, CATAL Great Wheel and Space Needal were illuminated in tricolor colors. The tricolor was also hoisted at the headquarters of Tacoma Dome, Tacoma City Hall and Tacoma Police and Fire Department. The relations between India and the region have been deeper since the opening of India’s sixth consulate in CATAL in November 2023.
