German Foreign Minister Johan Wadeful called upon the Israeli government and Hamas terrorist group to agree on a ceasefire proposal that protects the release of the Israeli hostages and prevents the pain of Palestinians in Gaza.
Speaking with his Indonesian counterpart in Jakarta, Wadeful said, “Now there are very real opportunities to resolve the struggle.”
“The goal for all of us is clear: a two state solution, which must be interacted,” said Wadeful.
On Monday, Hamas agreed to a ceasefire proposal, with the initial 60-day trustees, limited release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, and increased assistance in Gaza.
Israel has not responded immediately. While Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has earlier stated that the fight for the convenience of hostage can be prevented, he has said that Israel has continued the fight in Gaza until all the hostages are returned and Hamas is defeated and disorganized.
Qatar and Egypt supported by the United States have mediated negotiations.
The war in Gaza, which began after Hamas -led terrorist attack on Southern Israel on 7 October, 2023, killing 1,200 people in Israel, some 250 and hostage, now in about 23rd month.
According to health officials in Hamas-Sarkar Enclave, more than 62,000 Palestinians have died since the war began. The United Nations considers data reliable.
The German Foreign Minister said that his country has a special responsibility for Israel and supports his fight against Hamas.
However, Wadeful mentioned that the German government respects the suffering of the population in Gaza and has called upon Israel to take measures to prevent the suffering of citizens.
“The goal for all of us is clear: a two state solution, which must be interacted,” said Wadeful. “This will be in all our interests if this political struggle can be resolved through a peaceful process.”
