Columbia’s Superior Court on Tuesday ordered former President Alvaro Uribe to be released from House Arrest, while he appeals to a convict for witnessing tampering and bribe in the country’s prolonged civil war related case.
On 1 August, 73 -year -old was sent to 12 years of custody.
This was the first time in the history of Colombia when a former President was convicted of a crime. He receives the longest possible gel period.
Accused of overseeing human rights violation
Uribe was President from 2002 to 2010 and oversee the fight against leftist rebels. His staunch approach has been held responsible for forcing FARC rebels Steng in peace talks.
However, the detectors point to the violation of human rights under it, as the Colombia’s army stepped into a significant victory against the rebels.
The army is accused of killing thousands of youth and passing them as rebels.

US State Secretary Marco Rubio called Uribe’s sentence “the Judicial Branch of Colombia by radical judges”. However, Rubio did not provide any evidence supporting his claims.
