Tampa (America). A federal court in Florida on Friday dismissed the US $ 15 billion defamation case filed against the newspaper ‘New York Times’ by President Donald Trump. The case mentioned the book and an article written by ‘New York Times’ journalist Ras Buutner and Suzanne Craig, which focused on Trump’s financial position and his role in the television program ‘The Apprentice’ before becoming President.

Trump in his petition alleged that the writers “served the factless discourse in a malicious manner” that television producer Mark Burnett made him a celebrity, while “at the time of publication and earlier defendants knew that President Trump was already a big celebrity and had achieved great success in the business world.”

The trial filed in the US District Court in Florida, written by two newspaper journalists and many articles and a book published before the 2024 election. It states that these are “part of the decades -old trend of New York Times for deliberately and malicious defamation against President Trump”.

The trial states, “The defendants published such statements with negligence, with the information about the lies of the statements, and/or ignoring their truth or falsehood.” The New York Times did not immediately respond to the email sent to receive a response on the morning of 16 September.

Announcing the trial, in a post on ‘Truth Social’, Trump accused the New York Times of lying and defaming him and said that it has become a “virtual mouthpiece” of the Radical Left Democrat party.

Trump has also attacked other media institutions, including a defamation suit of US $ 10 billion against ‘The Wall Street Journal’ and media businessman Rupert Murdoch in July. The newspaper had published a news on Trump’s relationship with rich financier Jeffrey Epstein.
