Record prices: € 15 for a liter of beer

The big question on oktoberfest each year is: “How much for a beer?”

Last year, a mass-e-liter stein of beer-cost around € 15 ($ 17.65). This year, most of the beer costs more than € 15 euros, which is the most expensive at Monchanar Stub, costing € 15.80. Only a few vendors are selling a liter of beer in a jug for less than 15.

Even though the event on “Wiesn” – the area where the Okteberfest hero is locally known – officially hosted by the Bavarian Rajdhani, Munich, the prices for the drink are determined themselves by the sellers. All the same, Munich city officials keep a close watch on how prices develop to ensure that they remain appropriate. No matter how expensive the beer becomes, however, every year about seven million liters of the festival are intoxicated.

Collector often tries to smuggle empty mass jaggery outside the festival ground – with several security personnel caught: In 2024, 98,000 stein was recovered on the exit. In the previous years, the number was even greater.
