Taliban released British doubles after seven -month Ordial -DW -09/19/2025

The official said the Taliban on Friday issued a British couple in Afghanistan on UNDIS closed allegations for more than seven months.

The case of Peter and Barbie Reynolds, aged 80 and 75, underlined Western concerns over the tasks of the Taliban as he overthrew the country’s US -backed government four years ago.

The pair lived in Afghanistan for 18 years and used to run an educational institution in Bamiyan, the province of the country.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Kahar Balki said on social media, “Two British citizens named Peter and Barbara Reynolds, who had violated Afghanistan’s laws, were released from custody today after the judicial process.”

Hey said that the Taliban “does not look at the cases of citizens from a political or transaction angle.”

The elderly couple was called to the UK special representative to Afghanistan, Richard Lindsay, Balhki.

Years after the Taliban resumed power in 2021, the rule is seen as part of a comprehensive effort to achieve international recognition.
