US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke over the phone on Friday. The two leaders spoke for about two hours. This was the first conversation between the two leaders in three months, which reduced the tension between the two countries to some extent. Trump is describing this phonecal as ‘very positive’. This phone call made progress on issues such as business, fantanil smuggling, Ukraine War and approval to run tickets in America. Trump made disclosure related to this in a post on Truth social after a conversation. He informed that the two leaders will meet at the APEC conference to be held in South Korea. Apart from this, Trump told that he would go to China in early 2026. He also informed that Chinese President Jinping will also visit America around this time.

Trump has appreciated the approval of Xi Jinping on the ticket issue. Trump told reporters at the Oval Office that Xi Jinping has approved the ticket deal, although the formal signature is still left. This deal will allow the ticket to run in the US, provided national security concerns are overcome. The US Congress passed a law last year, under which the American branch of the ticket would have to be sold to the US owners, otherwise it may have to be closed by January 2025. Trump has extended the deadline for sale for the fourth time for sale this week, which is now till 16 December.

Trump said that the final signature on this deal is still left, but it is moving in the right direction. However, the statement issued by China does not mention any formal agreement on tickets. The Chinese government said in a statement that it respects the wishes of tickets and demanded not to discriminate against Chinese companies. Some American MPs are worried that China may spy or promote Americans through tickets, although China has dismissed these allegations. Trump said that the algorithm of ticket -lock would be under the strict control of the US and questions related to ownership would be announced soon.

Discussion on Ukraine War and Business

Trump said that this two-hour call also talked about the need to end the Ukraine-Russia war. He said that Xi Jinping also wants to end this war soon. Apart from this, the two leaders also discussed issues like trade and fantanil smuggling. Trump has recently imposed heavy tariffs on China’s exports, in response to which China also increased the tariffs. However, in recent months limited agreements between the two countries have stopped this tariff war to some extent.
