New York. After the Donald Trump administration has a meeting of Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio for the first time after the Donald Trump administration imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on India and a change in H1-B visa rules. After this very important meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote on his ‘X’, “This morning was happy to meet Marco Rubio in New York. A series of bilateral and international issues of existing concern was involved in the conversation… The importance of sustainable dialogue for progress in primary areas was agreed… We will remain in touch.”

Jaishankar and Rubio met Trump’s tariff and H1-B visa for the new applicant after the announcement of a fee of US $ 1 lakh. Not only this, the two Foreign Ministers met for the first time even after lifting the Chabahar port of Iran from the restriction. It is believed that all these issues have been discussed between the two foreign ministers.

It is such a decision of Trump administration that is natural for 50% tariffs, H1-B visa fee and restriction fee from Chabahar that is natural to have negative impact on India. In such a situation, after the meeting of External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, this statement talked about the bilateral and international issue of the current concern… It gives a clear indication that India has put its side in front of the US Secretary of State on all the issues related to the interest of India.

This was the third meeting of the two foreign ministers in the year 2025, but this meeting was more important than the previous two meetings in terms of current relations between India and America because the US has made something that has directly affected India.

This bilateral meeting took place on a day when talks are also going to be held between India and America to finalize the trade agreement. A delegation led by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will meet the American side in New York on Monday. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a statement, “The delegation aims to carry out the discussion in order to conclude a quick conclusion on a mutually beneficial trade agreement.”

The statement said that on September 16, during the visit of the US Trade Representative Office officials to India, various aspects of the trade agreement were discussed positively and it was decided to intensify the efforts in this regard. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar arrived in New York on Sunday to participate in the high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly. He will hold bilateral and multilateral meetings on the sidelines of the session and will give a national statement from the UNGA platform in general debate on 27 September.
