Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shra, who was declared a terrorist by the US in 2013, has now become a state guest honor in UNGA and has also met Donald Trump.

Al-Shra had already met US President Donald Trump in May this year. The meeting was the first meeting between a Syrian and the US President in the last 25 years. In this meeting held at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) conference held with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, Trump announced to lift all the restrictions on Syria. Trump said that the US is working towards normalizing relations with the new government of Syria. This decision was considered a major political sign for Syria and the international community.
Syrian Civil War
After assuming power, the Al-Shara government is facing civil war. In June, there were violent clashes in Suvida region. Apart from this, Israel also attacked Syrian areas several times. Syria accused Israel of violation of the 1974 disagreement purt. Israel was accused of constructing military bases in these areas.
