Thousands of workers and students across Italy have joined a general strike and have said rallies in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
Several grassroots unions called for a 24 -hour strike on Monday, which affected transportation, schools and ports amidst other infrastructure.
More than 20,000 people participated in Palestinian protest in front of Rome’s Central Termini railway station, while protesters in Bologna blocked traffic on a motorway.
Dock workers went on strike at the ports of Genoa, Livorno, Tristtee and Venice, where the police used a water cannon to break the protesters.
“Palestinians continue to give us another lesson in dignity and resistance,” a protesters in Ricky, Genoa told a group of a group called Autonomous Dockworkers Collectors, told The Reuters News Agency.
“We learn from them and try to share their own,” Heer said.
Meloni condemns clashes with police in Milan
In Milan, the protesters clashed with the police at the central station in the city.
Italy’s ANSA news agency reported that at least 10 people were arrested and about 60 police officers suffered injuries or more serious injuries.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni chose clashes between protesters and police in Milan.
“(This) was violence and destruction, which has nothing to do with solidarity and will not change the lives of people in Gaza by one fraction, but there will be concrete consequences for Italian citizens who will grieve and pay for the damage caused by the thesis goons,” said the media said.
