India US relations: Marco Rubio claims- Talk with India on Russian oil, US State Department’s statement is different

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed that negotiations between America and India to procure oil from Russia are going on. Rubio said in a TV program on Tuesday, “We held meetings with him again yesterday, and the main issue in it was his import of oil from Russia.” It is clear from Rubio’s statement that both countries are discussing energy security and trade. The US Foreign Minister also indicated that more meetings and meetings are likely in the coming time. But there is some difference in the statements issued by Marco Rubio and the US State Department.

Marco Rubio met Foreign Minister S Jaishankar a day ago. After that, there was no mention of the statement that was issued by the State Department. The statement issued by the State Department said that the foreign ministers of the two countries have agreed that India and America will work together to promote free and open Indo-Pacific sector. It also includes cooperation through the quad.

According to the statement, the US Foreign Minister said, India’s relations are very important for America. Marco Rubio thanked the Government of India for the continuous cooperation of the Government of India in trade, defense, energy, median, important minerals and other subjects related to bilateral relations. Jaishankar had said that many bilateral and international issues related to the current concerns were discussed among us. Also, there was a consensus on continuous cooperation for progress in priority areas.
