The tension between Europe and Russia has reached a new level. NATO countries have now given a clear warning in the United Nations that if any Russian aircraft or missile violates their aerial border, it will be killed immediately. This statement has come amid increasing incidents in recent times, when Russia was accused of breaking the air boundary of NATO countries several times. During the emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council in New York, Poland’s Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorski said, “If a Russian aircraft enters our border and dropped, Russia should not come to us with a complaint.”

Earlier, Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk also gave a strong statement that, ‘If our limit is violated, we will kill any object without flying without discussion. There is no place for debate here. Last week, Estonia reported that three Russian MIG-31 fighter aircraft remained in its air range for 12 minutes. Earlier this month, 20 drones of Russia entered the Poland border, who was killed by NATO. Violation of Romania’s aerial border has also been charged on Russia.

These incidents have increased anxiety in Europe, especially in those countries which are adjacent to the border of Russia. Denmark Foreign Minister Larse Lokke Rasmusen said, “Russia feels that he can do arbitrariness wherever he wants- be it Ukraine, Baltic Sea or Eastern Europe.” While presenting evidence, Estonia Foreign Minister Margas Sakhana said that the violation is ‘completely clean and factual’. He claimed that Russian aircraft were equipped with missiles and ready for fighting.

What did Russia say?

However, Russia has dismissed these allegations. Kremlin spokesperson Dimitri Peskov said that Estonia has no concrete evidence and is just an attempt to increase stress. Britain’s Foreign Minister Yett Cooper warned Russia’s steps as ‘dangerous and irresponsible’, warning that NATO is ready to deal with any situation. America has also assured its colleagues. America’s new Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said, ‘We will protect every inch of NATO’s land. Russia should stop such activities immediately. At the same time, in Moscow, President Vladimir Putin spoke of avoiding strategic weapons race on one side, but also warned that Russia is capable of giving military reply to any danger.
