He had many serious allegations like attempting to kill the presidential candidate, possessing weapons in violent crime, attacking federal officer, keeping arms and erasing the serial number of weapons despite being a criminal.
According to the posuals, Routh had prepared for this attack for several weeks. On 15 September 2024, when Trump was playing at the West Palm Beach Golf Club, Ruth was present on the spot with a rifle hiding in the bushes.
In the case of attempting to kill Donald Trump, Ruth defended himself and refused to keep a lawyer in the court. He said that he did not press the trigger, so the crime did not happen. He claimed that Trump was in front of him and he did not kill even the secret service agent who came near. Ruth called only 3 witnesses on his behalf, while the prosecution presented 38 witnesses for 7 days.
After the jury’s decision, Donald Trump expressed happiness on social media and said that “this is a victory of justice in America.” He praised the Attorney General Palm Bondi and the team of the entire Justice Department. At the same time, Trump also thanked the secret service and the common citizen who saw the accused running away and informed the police about his car and number plate.
A secret service agent testified in the court that Ruth had taunted him, but the agent fired first, which left Routh’s weapon and he escaped. However, he was later arrested near the highway.
