S Jaishankar News: Dr. S. in UNGA. Jaishankar said that India is ready for permanent membership in the Security Council. He raised the demand for UNSC reform and put forward the injustice done to Global South.

In the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held in New York, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar gave a speech from India. Instead of India, he called ‘India’ and started his address as ‘Namaskar on behalf of the people of India’. During this time, he emphasized the need for major improvement in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and said that India is ready to take great responsibility globally. He has directly claimed India for a permanent seat. Jaishankar said that now the time has come when the Security Council is re -shaped so that it becomes really representing the world.
He said, ‘Both permanent and temporary membership of the Security Council should expand. Only a corrected council can show the changing reality of the world. India is ready to be a part of this reform and to fulfill a big responsibility. India has been continuously putting the injustice done to the global South. India has been saying that struggles and global crises first fall on energy and food security. The rich countries have secured themselves, but the societies with resources have to struggle.

India expressed in the UN that it is a strong voice of Global South. India is advocating the expectations and rights of the entire global South, not just its own. Dr. Jaishankar said, ‘India has started more than 600 development projects in 78 countries, including large infrastructure to small level of employment and education. He said that at the time of crisis, India has helped neighboring and partner countries by giving finance, food, fertilizer and fuel.
