The High Regional Court on Tuesday convicted a German National Gian Jiyan ji of espionage for China.

Judges ruled his intelligence activity, working in the European Parliament for a distant option for Maximilian Krhas, a politician of Germany (AFD), made a “particularly serious case” of espionage.

What did the judges decide in China’s espionage case?

The judges found that G had collected information about party leadership data while working for Krha between 2019 and 2024, and partially transferred confidential documents to Chinese authorities. He said that he monitored the Chinese dissidents living in Europe, the judges said.

Zee in his final statement denied the allegations, insisting that he never worked for Chinese service. His defense counsel acquitted, citing lack of evidence. The prosecutors demanded a sentence of seven and a half years.

Jackie X, accused of supplying cargo and passenger data from his job at Leapzig Airport, admitted the information passed, but denied knowledge of espionage. He was sentenced to one year and nine months suspended.

Krah, who testified as a witness, told the court that he was unaware of the membership or cover activities of his ally. He is subject to separate investigation for bribery and money lobouts related to Chinese payments.
