Milorad Dodic Steps aside – DW – 09/30/2025

Former President Milorad Dodic on Monday withdrew from all official roles in Republicel Sripska, the Serb majority unit that makes half of Bosnia and Herjegovina, after three decades of examination after three decades of examination.

One month dynamic deadlock with the state judiciary has thus ended with full capitulation of Dodic.

It began in February, when a Bosnian federal court sent him to jail for a year and stopped him from politics for six years for a decision of a high reconsideration Christian shmit, the international messenger assigned the task of implementing the peace deal of the Dathan Agreement, which was abolished, which was finished 30 years ago.

In August, Bosnia’s Central Election Counter made Republical Sripaska’s Presidential Presidential Dodic.

Initial disobedience

“I won’t go down. There will be a referendum in late September,” Dodic repeatedly stressed, both after the court’s verdict and after being striped for the presidency.

While he avoids jail sentence by paying a fine, he is still stopped from all political activities for six years.

But now, even the coalition of independent Social Democrats (SNSD), the party Dodic has led to its defined stance as long as the party Dodic has been in power.

After months of threatening in response to Dodic’s sentence, the party has finally accepted.

Dodic has asked that the National Assembly of Republika Sripaska appoints an interim president until a newly elected in an initial presidential election on 23 November.

Dodic said on Monday, “This is part of our comprehensive strategy – a step to oppose the danger with the aim of reducing Republic Serpska.”

Dodic divided party

Despite retreat, Dodic SNSD remains the head of his brain yield and party, who paved the way for his rise in the power of politics.

But once the Republika Sripaska’s unit is used by using near-coal control, and even for decisions at the Bosnian level either with the support of Republic Sarpska, by increasing the chief on national politics, Dodic now decreases to reduce a party that is fragmented by internal cracks.

Indeed, his return may mean SNSD ItiTesfel’s uncontrolled and with it, former US Secretary Madelin Albreight and the west’s disappearing heritage once occurred once as “fresh air in the balcon”.

Uday and Self-affection case

After signing the Deton Peace Agreement in 1995, Bosnia and Herzegovina were divided into two highly autonomous institutions: lead Serb Republic Sarpska and leading Bosniaq-Croet Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dodic reached power in 1998 when he assumed the leadership of Republic Sarpska, where he ruled unwanted for most of his sentence early this year.

The irony is that it was Dodic Himlaf, who brought a case in the Constitution to establish recent events. He hoped to be able to discredit the high -representative, Christian Schmid, who launched legal reforms allowing elected politicians to sue criminally.

Instead, the result was a decision that was triggered to last a month and eventually remain in power to futile.

Even the recurring threats of a referendum, which Dodic called for more than 50 times to portray him as the sole protector of Serb National Unity, could not save him.

A disastrous economy

The politics of uncontrolled corruption, chronism, brother -in -law and protection of more than two decades has destroyed the Republic Sarpska’s economy.

Public utilities and industries have been hollowed out as a result of shady tenders, fake concessions and legal settlements.

Republical Sripaska’s power distribution company was insolvency in a few years, and thermal power plant – once the leading exporter of energy – now on the verge of collapse.

Serb Ekta Champion?

While Dodic publicly made Serb Unity the champion, Unity Dodic eventually served the interests of his family and political circles.

His leadership gave everything, but Republic Sarpska was really needed: economic development, post -war recovery and reconciliation.

Weakening the central state and paving the way for the separate future separation of Republika Sripaska became a central objective of Dodic and SNSD.

Following the Bosnian War of 1992–1995, the Republic Sarpska had a population of about 1.5 million. Today, that number estimates that it has barely increased to 700,000.

Collaborative in Moscow, Budapest and Belgrade

Although he initially came to power with Western support, Dodic later published in Moscow, formed a strong relationship with President Vladimir Putin. He developed close ties with Hungary Prime Minister Victor Orban and Serbian President Alexander Vusic.

Dodic is convinced that if the separation of Republic Sarpska from Bosnia and Herjegovina would ever give Moscow to its unwanted, it would become humble at any time.

But there was no such support ever – neither from Kremlin nor from Budapest or Belgrade. In short, the much awaited balcony political block never came.

Relationship with high representative

The collapse of Dodic can be detected by the decision of a major court in 2020, assigned the state’s assets that belonged to the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Central Government of the Ugoslav Republic of Bosnia before the 1992 war.

Dodic considered the ruling as unacceptable as it challenged the Republical Sripaska’s law, which was a special control over its territory.

Austria’s then high representative Valentin followed a political clash with Inzco, who introduced a law refusing the massacre. This was a direct connection to the leadership of Republican Sripaska, which denies the internationally recognized Sriminica massacre.

INZKO was informed by Germany’s Christian Schmidit, which Dodic declared a personality non -Greta to enforce the law, which he saw harmful to the Republican Sripska. Dodic also ordered the police to arrest Schmid, if he enters the unit – a danger that never worked.

Finally, by proceeding with the international community and national institutions and stopping further conflict, Dodic has accepted both the rights of the shrimt and the validity of the Bosnian court, which sent it.
