Tropical Storm Emales brings chaos for Caribbean – DW – 09/30/2025

The heavy rains brought by the tropical storm Emailda caused widespread damage and disruption in the Northern Caribbean on Monday.

At least two people have been killed in eastern Cuba amid extreme weather.

Officers in Bahamas closed most schools and issued a tropical storm warning for parts of the north -west of the island country as Emailda brought maximum continuous winds of 100 km (62 mi) per hour.

According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Emailda is forecast to strengthen a storm and go to the open ocean on Tuesday morning.

Emailda landlides causes floods

Cuba’s Prime Minister Manuel Marore on Monday expressed his grief over “The Death of to Peepal” in East Cuba in a message on social media on Monday.

The media said a 60 -year -old man died in Santiago de Cuba, the second largest province in the island, when his house collapsed due to rain and landslides. There was no information about the second death.

Official new paper Granma It was reported that the province saw a decline in 25 cm (9.8 in) rainfall in 24 hours, cutting off 17 communities floods and landslides.

The Guantanamo province was hard-hit, which reported the collapse of six houses as more than 18,000 people were evacuated.

Amidst the ongoing rains, both the provinces have closed all educational institutions to “notice”.

The forecasts say that Emailda wants to convert its current northern course into a pre–elevated Hasteers trajectory, which is under the influence of Hurricane Hamberto, now a category 3 storm that is raining near the Atlantic near the Atlantic.

This will get away from the southeastern coast of America and will prevent the region from suffering from frightening rainfall, although the beaches of South Carolina and North Carolina will increase rainfall.

Bermuda therefore can be affected by both storms later in the week. The officials there have asked the houses to prepare for possible emergency situations.
