Luxembourg encouraged the head of a new state on Friday, when Grand Duke Henry left the throne of his son Giliom.
70 -year -old Grand Duke Henry abolished the 25 -year rule of the small European nation with a population of about 680,000 people at a ceremony at the Grand Dockl Palace.
The 43 -year -old Guelume was then crowned in front of the guests after swearing to take the oath of the Constitution of Luxembourg, including representatives of the Dutch and Belgian royal families.
The German President Frank-Walter Steinmier and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, will attend a Gala dinner at a dinner on Friday in Luxembourg City.
Grand Duke Gilliom did not expect to change the status quo
Although Guelume is about 30 years younger than the father, the new head of the state is not expected to change a great deal in the nation.
The last Shesh Grand Dachi of the State of the World implemented the laws and did the representative work.
However, many people hope that 43 -year -old will offer a slightly warm touch for the job.
Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries of the European Union and is its richest per capita, seen as a financial powerhouse that hosts the European Court’s Justice and European Investment Bank institutions such as European Investment Bank.
Infection begins in 2024
Grand Duke Henry launched an infection period in 2024, as he wanted to “slow”.
Gilliom, who has two sons, was educated in Luxembourg and Switzerland before attending the Sandharst Military School in the United Kingdom.
He then earned a double degree in art and political science from the University of Angers in France.
After taking oath on Friday, the new Grand Duke greeted the public from a balcony towards a central class. Over the weekend, he will make a traditional tour of the small nation rich in the Catholic Notre-Dem de Luxembourg Cathedral with Sunday Mass.
