US President Donald Trump, while talking to reporters on Wednesday, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured him that India will stop buying oil from Russia. He called it a major step in efforts to increase global pressure on Moscow. However, it is important to remember that before this Trump has made fake claims on India-Pakistan ceasefire.

Donald Trump gave this answer to a question asked by news agency ANI during a press conference in the Oval Office. ANI asked a question whether the US President considers India a reliable partner? To this Trump said, ‘Yes, absolutely.’ He (PM Modi) is my friend. We have very good relations. I was not happy with India buying oil from Russia. However, he has now assured me that India will not buy oil from Russia. This is a big step. Now we will have to get China to do the same.

Donald Trump further criticized India’s import of oil from Russia and said that we were not happy with India’s decision to buy oil from Russia because it would allow Russia to continue the war.

Donald Trump’s most fake claim before this is that he was the one who got the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
