As of Sunday, at least 47 people have died across the country, while 38 people are still missing. Thousands of people have been rendered homeless and roads, houses and bridges have been washed away in many areas. Neighboring country America has also been shaken by a similar storm. America’s East Coast was hit by a powerful Nor’easter storm on Sunday, causing heavy rain, strong winds and flooding in coastal areas. The situation became so serious that a state of emergency was declared in New York City, Long Island and New Jersey.

The National Weather Service has warned that the effects of the storm will continue till Tuesday. Coastal flood warnings continue from Florida to New England. The speed of the wind gust was about 100 km per hour. According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds of up to 72–88 km/hour are blowing in New York City and surrounding areas. Gusts in Long Island have reached up to 96 km/hour. After hitting the Carolina states on Saturday, the storm moved towards New Jersey and New York on Sunday.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul warned, ‘There is a risk of power outages and floods due to strong winds and heavy rains. Our teams are ready to help everywhere. According to the Meteorological Department, Long Island and East Connecticut received 2–3 inches of rain. 1–2 inches of rain is possible in the New York City metro area. Experts say that the situation may worsen during the high tide of Monday afternoon and evening.

Officials said that this devastating rain was caused by two tropical systems Hurricane Priscilla and Tropical Storm Raymond. Both systems formed off the west coast and later weakened, but by then they had caused floods and landslides across the country.
