In America, a Boeing 737 Max-8 flight of United Airlines suddenly had to make an emergency landing mid-flight. Actually, the windshield (front glass) of the plane was broken in the air. One pilot suffered minor injuries in the accident, although all 140 passengers and crew members remained completely safe. This incident happened on October 16 with flight UA1093, which was going from Denver to Los Angeles. The plane was flying at an altitude of 36,000 feet when the pilots noticed cracks and burning marks in the glass.

By immediately issuing an alert, the plane was brought down to a height of 26,000 feet and the pilots started the emergency landing process. With the help of air traffic control, the plane made a safe landing at Salt Lake City International Airport. At that time the plane was about 322 kilometers south-east of Salt Lake City. After landing, the passengers were flown to Los Angeles on another flight, a Boeing 737 Max-9. They faced a delay of about 6 hours.

How did the plane’s glass break?

Pictures shared online show burn marks and deep cracks on the windshield. Experts believe that this was not a simple technical fault. Actually, such marks and burning patterns are generally formed when a high-speed object hits any part of the aircraft. Generally, aircraft windshields are designed to withstand events such as bird strikes or pressure changes. Experts believe that this accident may have been caused by some small meteorite or satellite debris coming from space.

no passengers were hurt

United Airlines confirmed that no passengers were injured and the injured pilot suffered minor scratches. At present, the company has not given any official statement on the real reason for the glass breaking. Just two days after the incident, on October 18, another United Airlines plane collided with the tail of another plane while taxiing at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. No one was hurt in this accident and 113 passengers were taken off safely.
