US Shutdown: Preparations to fire government employees in America, will Trump now take away jobs on the pretext of shutdown?

According to government filings, about 4,000 federal employees could lose their jobs if the shutdown continues. These departments will be impacted the most. More than 1,400 employees will be laid off in the Treasury Department. 1,100 employees may be out of the Department of Health and Human Services. 400 employees may be out of the education and housing department. Hundreds of employees may also be laid off in Commerce, Energy, Homeland Security and Environmental Protection agencies. It is not yet clear which projects or programs will be affected.

Opposition protests against Trump’s decision

This decision has been strongly criticized by the opposition Democratic Party and some Republican MPs. Senator Susan Collins said, ‘I strongly oppose this move. This is completely wrong. Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said, ‘No one is forcing Trump to do this. They are doing this themselves, and this is a deliberate step which is harming the common employees. He wants to fire those employees who check our food and help us in times of trouble.
