Myanmar Paraglider Bombing: The people of Myanmar, another neighboring country of India, are bearing the brunt of the instability. When people were celebrating the Buddhist festival here, they were showered with death and instead of laughter there were screams.

People had gathered to celebrate, bombs started raining from the paraglider... there was shouting and screaming.

A tragic incident took place in India’s neighboring country Myanmar, when on Monday, a crowd was directly killed in Chaung U Township here. When the people celebrating the Buddhist festival Thadingyut were dancing with joy, two bombs were dropped on them from a motorized paraglider. At least 24 people died and 47 were injured in this tragic incident. According to BBC report, this information was given by the spokesperson of Myanmar’s exiled government National Unity Government (NUG).

The attack took place when about 100 people had gathered to celebrate a Buddhist festival. Apart from being a religious event, this festival was also a part of protest against military rule. A local official of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) said that the bombs were dropped directly on the crowd. He said – ‘There was advance warning of air attack. The bomb fell within seven minutes of the attack starting. As soon as the first bomb fell, I fell on the ground. Many people standing near me were killed.

What does Amnesty International’s report say?

Let us tell you that a civil war-like situation is prevailing in Myanmar after the removal of the elected government by the army in 2021. According to the United Nations, more than 5,000 civilians have died so far. Amnesty International strongly condemned this attack and said that the use of paramotors to attack civilian areas is a very worrying trend. The organization said in the statement that these circumstances show that the citizens of Myanmar need immediate protection. Amnesty further said that this attack is a continuation of the continuing violent incidents since the 2021 coup.

The report also said that the military regime is trying to strengthen its hold by holding fake elections this year and for this it has intensified attacks on protesting areas. Last week, Rohingya Muslims appealed to the international community at a historic UN meeting to stop the ongoing killings in Myanmar and help the victims lead normal lives.
