India-Pakistan News: Pakistan is not desisting from its despicable activities. Once again the neighboring country that gives shelter to terrorists has shown its true colors. Pakistan has described the terrorists who attacked India as freedom fighters. India has given a befitting reply to this and termed Pakistan as the Epicentre of Terror. In the United Nations General Assembly, India strongly reprimanded Pakistan and said that it is trying to protect terrorism by calling it a fight for freedom. India bluntly said that Pakistan is the center of global terrorism and its dual policy has now been exposed before the world.

During the debate in the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, Pakistan’s representative Muhammad Jawad Ajmal claimed that those attacking India were freedom fighters who were carrying out legitimate resistance against foreign occupation. India’s First Secretary Raghu Puri strongly protested against this statement and said, ‘Terrorism is the most heinous crime that destroys the core of humanity. It is a symbol of fanaticism, violence, intolerance and fear and terrorists represent the lowest class of human society. Puri described Pakistan’s statement as an example of two-faced policy and hypocrisy. He said, ‘Pakistan is a well-known bastion of global terrorism. It has international networks of many terrorist organizations, whose targets have been innocent civilians across the world.

Attempt to portray terrorists as freedom fighters

India said that Pakistan is deliberately distorting the interpretation of international law. Puri said that the UN treaties and resolutions that Islamabad cites themselves make it clear that terrorism can never be justified for any political, religious or ideological reason. Ajmal made his comments during a conversation with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Fundamental Freedoms while Countering Terrorism. This discussion took place at a time when consensus has not been reached on the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism proposed by India for years. This has happened mainly due to the opposition of Pakistan and some countries, who try to label terrorists as freedom fighters.

rage of islamophobia

Pakistan also alleged in its statement that the UN counter-terrorism policies target a particular religion. To this, India gave a befitting reply and said that this is a failed attempt to hide its own crimes by citing Islamophobia. Puri reminded the committee that terrorism is not just a problem for any country but is the biggest threat to the entire humanity. He said, ‘The countries which shelter terrorism, fund it and try to justify it are the biggest violators of human rights. Pakistan is at the top among them.

accountability on terrorism

This strong reaction of India has come at a time when Pakistan has been continuously trying to raise the issue of Kashmir on international forums and has been adopting the strategy of presenting the terrorists there as freedom fighters. But India once again made it clear in the United Nations that terrorism, in whatever form or name, can have no justification. India’s statement at the UN not only rejects Pakistan’s arguments outright, but also indicates that New Delhi will continue to demand more clarity and accountability in the global policy against terrorism.
