A police station in Srinagar, Indian-administered Kashmir, has been hit by a blast, police said Friday.
It was not immediately clear what caused the explosion, but an official said casualties were expected, according to Reuters news agency.
As a result of the explosion, Naugam police station was gutted by fire.
This blast occurred amid increased tension in India.
A car exploded in the capital New Delhi on Monday, killing at least eight people in what the Indian government has described as a terrorist attack.
Indian security agencies detained several suspects in Kashmir as part of the investigation into the car blast.
