Police in Stockton, California, said four people were killed and 10 others were injured in a shooting at a family gathering on Saturday evening.

The shooting occurred at a children’s birthday party, according to Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee, who said he was in contact with authorities and “pressing for answers.”
Police say dispatchers received reports of shots fired in Stockton, located about an hour and a half east of San Francisco, around 6:00 p.m. local time (0200 GMT).
Authorities say they have little information at this time and have not released any details about the attacker.
On Saturday, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office posted: “We can confirm at this time that approximately 14 people were struck by gunfire, and four victims have been confirmed dead.”

“This is a very active and ongoing investigation,” the statement continued, “and information is limited. Early indications suggest this may have been a targeted incident, and investigators are exploring all possibilities.”
