The Ethereum Bolivia community launched a campaign to make the country host of the ETH Latam 2026 event. They highlight the rapid growth of the local ecosystem, the boost in institutional adoption, the increase in increasingly active and organized developers and enthusiasts, which positions the country as a solid candidate compared to other nations in the region.
The proposal, led by engineer Fabiola Acarapi, co-founder of the community, underlines the consolidation of the ecosystem. The research site Mapeo ICT Bolivia 2025 registers 155 active startups, 1 incubator, 3 accelerators and 8 investment funds, after a growth of 13.6% in 2024.
«We have contact with the ETH Latam team to formally present the proposal next year. “We are in talks,” Acarapi told CriptoNoticias.
He added that Bolivia is taking solid steps towards the adoption of digital assets. “Choosing us as headquarters would be a decisive boost for our regional leadership,” he said.
The community highlights specific cases of adoption in its campaign. Among them, the fact that Yacimientos Petrolófilos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), the largest and most strategic public company in Bolivia, authorized in March 2025 the use of cryptocurrencies to import fuels, a pioneering measure in Latin America.
Additionally, the Buildathon 2025 of Ethereum Bolivia brought together more than 160 developers, 36 teams and 14 mentors. This event demonstrates the vitality of a community that promotes collaboration and collective growth, core values of the ecosystem.

The country lifted its total ban on cryptocurrencies in June 2024. It is now moving forward with the formal integration of these assets into its economic and financial system, as part of a broader digital transformation in banks.
