Israel will be allowed to participate in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest.
The decision came after members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) decided not to vote on imposing sanctions on the country, despite boycott threats against several broadcasters over the war in Gaza.
Netherlands broadcaster Evrotros said it would boycott the event in protest. Spanish and Irish broadcasters are also boycotting the annual festival. Others have also warned that they may withdraw from the contest, and accused Israel of violating rules designed to keep the contest politically neutral.
Germany, a major supporter of Eurovision, has said it would withdraw if Israel was banned and expressed its support for Israel’s participation.
