The city of Mérida, in Mexico’s Yucatán state, strengthens its position as a key hub for bitcoin adoption. This with a new alliance between the Accept Bitcoin 21 community, the Arcadia BTC company and the local Software Technology Institute.
The director of Arcadia BTC, José Flores, served as a witness to the signing along with Maciej Cepnik, marketing director of the firm Aureo, formerly known as Swapido. “We remain available to support this project as it grows and prospers,” declared Cepnik, confirming the company’s support.
Mérida has recently emerged as an important node for Bitcoin in Latin America. This local educational initiative is framed in a context of accelerated adoption in countries like Bolivia, which adopts bitcoin and cryptocurrency due to the shortage of dollars and devaluation of its national currency, the boliviano (BOB).
ArcadiaBTC is a Mexican financial company founded in 2017 that in August 2025 became the first company listed directly on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) whose central strategy revolves around Bitcoin, following in the footsteps of Strategy, as reported by CriptoNoticias at the time.
Now, ArcadiaB is supporting actively educating about Bitcoin in Mérida, where the educational and cultural revolution is no longer limited to classrooms or the large cities of the north. There, in October 2025, a group of bitcoiners displayed Satoshi Nakamoto’s White Paper in a public square as a symbol of financial sovereignty.
This event, held during the inauguration of White Paper House, the first physical education, innovation and construction center exclusively for Bitcoin in the Mexican southeast, marked a turning point. What a few years ago seemed unimaginable in a conservative and traditional city is now openly celebrated by entrepreneurs.
After all, the signing of an educational agreement on bitcoin between ArcadiaBTC and the Software Technology Institute of Mérida demonstrates that education in this context has a strategic and symbolic value. It is a sign that corporate adoption is not disconnected from grassroots work.
At the moment is celebrated the Mayan Bitcoin Conference event, until December 7, 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Mérida. There it brings together thousands of participants for talks on financial sovereignty, hackathons and Mayan cultural excursions, highlighting the role of Bitcoin in emerging economies.
