Australian Muslim leaders condemn Bondi Beach shooting
A leading Australian Muslim organization has condemned the killing of 10 people in the shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
The Australian National Imams Council said in a statement that the attack was “appalling” and that its thoughts and prayers were with the victims, their families and all those affected.
The council said the shootings were extremely tragic and called on Australians to unite.
“This is a moment for all Australians, including the Australian Muslim community, to stand in unity, compassion and solidarity,” it said.

Israeli President expressed regret over ‘brutal attack’
Israeli President Isaac Herzog expressed condolences over the loss of life, saying the attack was deliberately targeted at Jews celebrating the beginning of the Hanukkah festival.
According to a statement from his office in Jerusalem, Herzog said, “In these very moments, our sisters and brothers in Sydney, Australia have been attacked by evil terrorists who have carried out a very brutal attack on Jews who had gone to Bondi Beach to light the first Hanukkah candle.”
“The hearts of the entire nation of Israel are beating in this moment, as we pray for the recovery of the wounded, we pray for them and we pray for those who lost their lives.”

Ten people confirmed dead after shooting at Bondi Beach
Officials said 10 people were confirmed dead, including a man believed to be one of the attackers, while a second alleged attacker was in critical condition.
Police said 11 other people were injured. Two of the injured are police officers.

He said, “This is the perfect opportunity for the Jewish community to come together to celebrate a joyous occasion. If we were deliberately targeted in this way, it would be on a scale that none of us could ever imagine. It is a terrible thing.”

Police say 2 taken into custody after multiple shootings
New South Wales police said on Sunday that two people were detained after multiple gunshots were heard on Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach.
Police said officers were responding to a “developing incident” and urged the public to stay away from the area and seek shelter if already nearby.
Police warned that the operation was ongoing and directed people to follow police instructions and avoid crossing the police line.
