Dozens of people in the capital Mexico City made all their purchases exclusively with bitcoin (BTC) at the first Christmas bazaar dedicated to promoting the use of the digital currency last weekend.
The event, organized by the La Casa de Satoshi community, promoted a circular market where sellers and buyers used only BTCconsolidating the practical adoption of this digital currency in a festive environment.
At least sixty people spent their sats, registering transactions for a minimum of three million sats. Payments were processed quickly over the Lightning network, using Wallet of Satoshi, as stated by the organizers. A bitcoin ATM made it easy for newcomers to acquire digital cash on the spot, simplifying their entry into the ecosystem.
From crafts to clothing, all paid for with bitcoin
With more than twenty vendors on board, the bazaar offered a diverse range of products, from crafts to clothing and accessories. This favorable environment also allowed the successful integration of new businesses to the growing Mexican bitcoin adoption network.
Those attending the Christmas bazaar had the opportunity to try a K1 machine, developed in El Salvador, which allowed Mexican pesos to be converted into bitcoin instantly, thus facilitating transactions in sats.
“We had the idea less than a month ago and it was a huge success,” noted the House of Satoshi team in X. At the same time they indicated plans for replicate the initiative due to the interest of the attendees for a next edition.
The event featured figures from the bitcoiner community such as Lorena Ortiz and BTC Andrés, who they added to the day with a stand of books about BTC. Their participation, along with that of other enthusiasts, enriched the atmosphere and consolidated the bazaar as a key meeting point for the adoption of bitcoin in the capital.
