US Postal Service announces price increase due to Iran increasing costs
The U.S. Postal Service has announced it is seeking a temporary 8% increase on some mail and parcel deliveries to combat rising transportation fuel costs.
“Transportation costs are rising, and our competitors have responded with multiple surcharges,” USPS said in a statement.
Delivery giant UPS imposed fuel surcharges in the United States in early March, and FedEx also frequently updates its fuel surcharges based on US gasoline prices.
If approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission, the price hike will come into effect from April 26.

Australia’s ban on visitors from Iran starts today
Australia has temporarily barred visitors from Iran from entering the country.
This ban has become effective from today, Thursday.
In announcing the ban, the government said there was a greater risk of Iranians being unwilling or unable to leave due to the war in Iran.
The ban prevents Iranians holding a certain type of visitor visa (subclass 600) from traveling to Australia for six months.

Russia is reportedly sending drone shipments to Iran – Financial Times
Russia is close to completing the delivery of a batch of drones to Iran financial Times Report.
The Britain-based newspaper quoted two unnamed officials as providing the intelligence.

Iran was a ‘calamity’ for world economies – German defense minister
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has described Iran as an economic “catastrophe”.
“To make it clear, this war is a catastrophe for the world’s economies,” Pistorius told reporters in Australia on Thursday.
He emphasized that Germany was not consulted before the war began and that it was not Germany’s war.
Pistorius said, “Nobody asked us before. This is not our war and so we don’t want to get into that war.”
He said that Germany was ready to help in any kind of peace and appealed for an armistice as soon as possible.
Pistorius is on a week-long visit to the Indo-Pacific region, including Australia.
