President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday that Russia struck a temporary ceasefire that would last for about three days with overnight strikes targeting Ukraine.
“Russia itself decided to end the partial silence that had lasted for several days. Overnight, more than 200 attack drones were launched against Ukraine,” Zelensky said on X.
He shared photos of the aftermath of the attacks, which he said targeted the Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions, as well as the capital Kyiv.

According to Zelensky, a kindergarten, energy facilities, a railway and apartment buildings were all hit in the drone strikes. Ukrainian officials said at least one civilian was killed.
The Russian military did not comment on ending the three-day ceasefire, but said it had intercepted 27 Ukrainian drones overnight.
A temporary peace was established after talks between Zelensky, Russia’s Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump last week.
The armistice coincided with annual ceremonies held in Moscow to commemorate the anniversary of the end of World War II. Normally involving a grand military parade, the festivities were significantly scaled down this year as Russia’s economy continues to slump after years of standoff in Ukraine and rising fuel prices caused by America’s war against Iran.
Both sides accused each other of multiple ceasefire violations over a period of three days.
Putin recently announced that he believes war is approaching, choosing controversial former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder to lead potential peace talks.
