Prosecution at Sarkozy’s appeal trial in Libyan case hope it won’t dilute initial conviction


Prosecution in former president Nicolas Sarkozy’s appeal trial has asked the court to find him guilty of conspiracy by having instigated meetings with representatives of the Libyan regime to receive funds to finance his 2007 election campaigns. Prosecutors will be presenting their closing statements on May 12. During the initial trial, he had been acquitted of three major charges but had been found guilty of criminal conspiracy.
