A French kindergarten aide went on trial in Paris on Tuesday, accused of sexually assaulting five preschool children, in the first such public hearing amid a flurry of allegations of abuse in the French capital. The case comes amid investigations into alleged mistreatment and sexual abuse at dozens of Paris schools and growing pressure on authorities to protect children in after-school care.
