Princess Leonor, heir to the Spanish throne, has completed basic paratrooper training at the military parachuting school in Murcia in southeastern Spain, the Royal Household announced in Madrid on Tuesday.
Leonor, 20, completed several jumps, including a night jump, in May with 50 other cadets to earn the “Cazador Paracadista” badge and diploma.
The parachuting course was part of Leonor’s military training at the General Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AGA), where she is currently in her third and final year of officer training.
As the daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, Leonor is next in line to the Spanish throne and will become Commander-in-Chief of the Spanish Armed Forces upon her coronation.
Leonor began her military career at the age of 17 at the Army Academy in Zaragoza before joining the Navy for a training trip lasting several months.
He has been posted in the Air Force since last September and has since completed his first solo flight.
Leonor is described as somewhat shy, but is also described as a balanced, prudent, determined and well-organized person.
According to military superiors cited by Spanish media, he has passed survival training and is very fit physically.
