Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday said that the Maharashtra Assembly elections are expected to be held in the second week of November and the seat sharing among the ruling allies will be finalised in the next 8 to 10 days. Speaking to media persons informally at his official residence ‘Varsha’ in Mumbai, Shinde said that two phases of polling for the 288-member state assembly would be better.
The CM said, “Elections are likely in the second week of November. A two-phase election would be better. Merit and good strike rate will be the criteria for seat-sharing among the Mahayuti allies.” He said the seat-sharing would be finalised in 8 to 10 days.
The government is a common man’s government: Shinde
He said the Mahayuti government, which comprises Shinde-led Shiv Sena, BJP and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, is focusing on development and welfare measures and is getting a good response from the people.
Shinde said he could see support for the government among women and added that his government was a common man’s government. “We have created a balance between development and welfare schemes,” he said.
Under the skill training programme, 1.5 lakh youths have been given appointment letters for jobs for which they will get a stipend of Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000. The CM said the target is to cover 10 lakh youths.
Shinde enumerated the work of his government
Shinde said so far 1.6 crore women have received financial assistance under the government’s Ladki Behen Yojana. “We plan to reach out to 2.5 crore women,” he added.
Currently, women beneficiaries of the government’s flagship ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana’ receive Rs 1,500 per month. Shinde also said his government’s target is to make Mumbai slum-free and ensure affordable housing for all.
He said all government agencies like Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) have been involved for redevelopment of slums.
