Cockroach Janata Party protests overnight in Delhi, calls upon lakhs of people to join it on Sunday
Youth-led Cockroach Janata Party and hundreds of supporters demonstrated at New Delhi’s historic Jantar Mantar ground for the second consecutive day demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Party founder Abhijeet Dubey and several supporters remained at the protest site throughout the night despite being asked by the local police to vacate the grounds.
On Sunday morning, Dipke expressed his support towards NEET-UG students and asked them to focus on the exam.
“I wish you all the best for today’s exam… We don’t want you to protest before the exam. Give your exam well, you have studied very hard,” he said in a reel posted on social media.
He said, “Come to Jantar Mantar after the exam, I am right here and waiting to meet you.”
In another video, Dipke urged India’s farmers to join the protests. He said, “Just as the children of this country stood with you during the farmers’ protest, now the time has come that you also stand with the children of this country.”
In 2020–21, millions of farmers in northern India protested for months to successfully pressure the government to repeal three agricultural sector laws that farmers believed would jeopardize their incomes. They form a significant part of India’s population and hold major political influence.
He said, “This fight cannot go ahead without your support and if farmers join it, Dharmendra Pradhan will have to resign.”
In another video, Deepke urged people of Delhi and all neighboring states to join the protests. “There can be no better way to spend a Sunday than being at Jantar Mantar demanding justice for students who committed suicide,” he said.
