Inflation rate will fall significantly in 2024 – schuhkurier

As the Federal Statistical Office announced, the inflation rate for the whole of 2024 was an increase of 2.2%. This means it is significantly lower than in previous years: on average, consumer price inflation was +5.9% in 2023, +6.9% in 2022 and +3.1% in 2021. Before that, the 2% limit was rarely exceeded – most recently in 2011 with +2.2%.

Display options Prices for services have risen particularly sharply. Inflation increased by +3.8% here. As early as 2023, prices here increased significantly by +4.4%. The inflation rate for goods, on the other hand, was rather moderate: prices rose by 1.0% and food prices by +1.4%. Inflation for consumer goods was even lower at +0.9%. If we look at clothing and shoes in isolation, the inflation rate rose by an annual average of 3.0%. In the energy sector, a calming of the inflation rate was also observed: Here prices rose by 3.2% on average for the year. In 2023 the increase was +5.3% and in 2022 it was even 29.7%.
