Verbenas have been in the market since 2014. Initially, the company mainly produced espadrilles and was active with slippers in the private label area. Nine years ago, Michael Gerlach, founder of the Brand Masters sales agency from Erkrath near Düsseldorf, became aware of the Spanish shoe provider – at a café bar on the Expo Riva Schuh on Lake Garda. There, Gerlach says, he treated himself to the morning espresso and orange juice and he had considered Verbena’s booth. The brand’s shoes were not lined up in the usual knife shells, but were stuck to a treadmill with colorful flags that turned tirelessly. “I thought: what are they doing?” Said Gerlach.
And you got into conversation. To date, Verbenas and Brand Masters work together. In the meantime, the brand from Spain offers much more than just Espadrilles. Hapiles have been offered under their own name for several years. Tieffpussb bedlettes, rubber boots and sneakers were added. Verbenas today stand for casual shoe fashion, colorful and imaginative styles and the ability to translate trends into an easily understandable language.
Gerlach believed in the potential of the brand from the start. And the trade went with. In the first season with Brand Masters for F/S 2017, a large championship from northern Germany placed a large order over 3,000 pairs of espadrilles – “and the ice was broken,” says Gerlach.
The Spaniards work with the strategy to offer a new shoe segment with a very good price-performance ratio and to quickly win market shares. “In this way, Verbenas have mixed up the market quite nicely,” Gerlach is convinced. Espadrilles with vulcanized soils are offered for 59.90 euros. Housshoes are 39.90 to 49.90 euros. Moccassin variants are new for 89 to 99 euros. Rubber boots are available in three shaft lengths of 69 to 120 euros. And the sneakers are available for 89.90 and 99.90 euros. Verbenas offer excellent calculation to the trade with 2.7 to partly 3.0, emphasizes Gerlach. The minimum turnover for the free house delivery is 1,500 euros, although the goods can be divided freely. A B2B tool also enables the brand’s inventory to be seen at any time. The trade can follow up at any time at Brand Masters. This is delivered within a week. Around 70% of the offer in the winter season of verbenas are slippers; Seen over the year, the slippery share is around 18%. And the models show up in great variety. If there are primarily footbed mug with imaginative upper in summer, there are cuddly styles, from the felt muleto to the plush model.
Verbenas have now arrived in the market. Dealers regularly organize shop window actions with the colorful styles of the brand. The brand is also successful internationally – including in South Korea and in Japan. Gerlach reports that more than 100,000 pairs were sold for the 2025/26 H/W season 2025/26.
